Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in his periodic rant about Wisconsin being the ONLY state where the outrageous summer bear hound training is not only allowed but promoted to attract bear hounders from all over the country who come to Wis. in July and August to loose their hounds in the north woods to chase and torment all creatures at the height of their reproduction cycles.
Now at the 2024 midpoint of this inhumane travesty foisted on the state years ago by an untethered bear hound lobby with nation-wide backing, the hounders invade the peaceful summer forests and are protected by insane regs that make it illegal to photograph them from public property and to agree to pay them $2500 if one of their hounds is killed by a pup-protecting wolf.
This unconscionable circumstance is residue from a minority representative legislature that sold Wisconsin’s basic outdoor decency and pride to pickup trucks full bear hounders and hounds from down south, among others.
Sometimes the keeper’s frustration with this outrage would move him to squeal like a pig if he thought it would facilitate Wisconsin to wake up to how it has sold its natural soul.
