Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper and Phyllis in a generational junk handoff with son Mike and granddaughter Sarah as boxes of files and the keeper’s newspaper clippings were transferred as part of a meatloaf dinner overseen by Boo the family dog on the 5th floor outdoor deck at Vista West on a gorgeous Monday evening.
In a briefed down format, the formal part of the ceremony included a short speech by the keeper who said the exchange of his old clippings for some of Mike’s meatloaf was about as good a deal as he could get. Phyllis applauded.
Many of the clippings date to the years when Mike was in his early trouble-making years and some of the keeper’s columns recorded his development to ultimately rank up there with his older brothers professional trouble-making status.
The clippings contain enough material to change Sarah’s perception of her father and the keeper warns her of that. In the meantime, there are other boxes of clippings to come and other family members to face reassessments of their youth.
The keeper advises them to get out their meatloaf recipes.
