Kickass, the doorstop dog, assists the keeper today in promoting him as a unique “minimalist” bird photographer with the shot of a hummingbird at the feeder which shows only the very tip of the hummingbird’s wing and requires that a viewer take the keeper’s word for it that what you see is indeed the tip of a hummingbird’s wing.
The keeper notes that the photo op may have been the only occasion of the year when a hummingbird visited the Vista West 5th floor deck where he and Phyllis reside and so a hummingbird photo of any kind is a triumph.
In a note to Harry and Jerry and Jim and all his other great bird photographer friends, the keeper urges them to greater artistic interpretation as he claims the “minimalist” title; and adds a bonus shot of a “naked” house finch preparing to enjoy “Lake Phyllis.” He calls it “Nude Drinker with Feathers,” and enters it in the bird photo “Art” category.
