Kickass and Money in Politics

Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in wondering how a democracy can possibly continue to function when $50 million donations are as much a part of the election scene as standing in line to vote?

With unlimited donations welcomed into the political process, isn’t it inevitable that the narcissistic big-money interests will soon enough totally own the citizenry as if it were the maintenance crew with holes in its work clothes and bedrolls under the bridges?

The keeper would claim that he is “asking for a friend” except he does not want to admit to having any friends who are so out of it they do not see what has already happened as leadership positions in the courts and legislatures are increasingly filled by self-centered puppets from the “haves” toy box or an actual member of the “haves”.

How much for a Senate seat? Ask the California millionaire who is bidding to buy one in Wisconsin.

The keeper tries to stay calm. Phyllis says that is best but she does not set a good example.
