Kickass, the doorstop dog, announces that the keeper appreciates Phyllis’s enthusiasm in joining him in celebrating the completion of a first draft of his 78,000 word novel—working title “The Wombers” which is plotted around the take-over of everything by women fed up with how it has been under male control, particularly dating back to colonial and settlement times.
As writing experiences go, “The Wombers” has so far been both agonizing and inspiring for the keeper, who would never admit that it is entirely possible he is in way over his head and he needs to start a 78,000-word paper fire and roast some marshmallows.
He won’t of course because his writer’s ego has him firmly convinced that he had something to say in “The Wombers” and he said it and so there!
If “The Wombers” ever sees the publishing light of day—which is highly problematic, the keeper hopes he is still around to autograph a copy for Phyllis, his main reader fan.
