Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in a Happy Father’s Day wish for all concerned, and reminds them that they lucked out in the physical aspects of the reproduction department, having neither womb nor breasts, both of which come with commitments and responsibilities fathers are ignorant of in their preoccupation with their insignificant libido driven role.
The keeper once asked his aging father what he had learned from his many years and Dad said he had learned what a pleasure it is to sit in a chair in the middle of the garden and watch it grow.
On another occasion, Dad’s response to a question about what he would like as a gift on a very senior birthday was, “Maye a little more time.”
The keeper identifies with both of Dad’s responses and he will be moving a chair out in the side courtyard so he can watch Phyllis’s little raised garden grow as he ignores life expectancy stats.
