Kickass, the doorstop dog, having had experience as a litter mate, tunes in to the keeper and Phyllis’s sensitivity regarding sibling relationships, particularly as it pertains to being the oldest in their respective families.
In the keeper’s case he is not at all reassured that he always treated his younger brother Orville with the respect he was due during their growing up years.
He was reminded of that at a recent family gathering when great-grandson Trevor complained to his father Beau about some ill treatment at the hands of his older brother Taylor.
Beau’s sensitive handling of the situation was another reminder to the keeper that he obviously also came up short as a father in dealing with sibling conflicts.
But, damn, there were four sons and a daughter involved and there seemed to be one or more disputes going on most of the time. It is impossible to imagine what it was like for Phyllis being the oldest of eleven.
Nice job, Beau, and good luck!
