Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in noting that the combination of old and new friends is often one of those non-age- related pleasures, and such was the case with a meeting of Phyllis’s old Arizona friends Jan and Jim Keane as they stopped by on their way home from a Minnesota visit.
In addition to Phyllis and Jan catching up on Sun City West camera-club news, there was the obligatory summaries of health circumstances–“organ recitals” in the age-group’s genre, with Jim in the lead with replaced hips, shoulders and liver and a hole in his skull from brain surgery. He reported that he swims daily, and as an engineer who designed items to enhance everyday life, he passed along the tip that while falling is the greatest threat to “senior” health, it can be prevented by developing the “small” muscles, the ones that twitch and work when you stand on one leg or lean back in or out of the pool.
The keeper and Phyllis thank Jan and Jim for stopping by, doing so, of course, while standing on one leg.
