Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper’s speech to a wood turtle in the middle of County Y as he and Phyllis returned from a river outing sponsored by Andy and Ari and attended by about 100 kids and several dogs: “You are being removed from the road and released back in the scrub because you do not have a car, and if you are on the way to Andy and Ari’s party, you are too late—the kids ate most of the hotdogs and all of the deserts. In conclusion, the keeper asks if you think a shell would be useful attire until after the upcoming election?”
