Kickass, the doorstop dog, agrees with the keeper that while sons are okay, daughters are better, or at least different when it comes to parent-child relationships.
That is especially true for mothers, mother-daughter bonding being one of those special human traits that endures for a lifetime as the two of them intimately share what it takes to be a woman in a world dominated by fumbling men.
It was a delight for the keeper to be part of the weekend visit of Phyllis’s daughter Gina, and to listen, along with Gina’s husband Steve, to Gina and Phyllis rehash past family events and make plans for more.
The keeper has missed his daughter Pat since the day she died several years ago. Many years prior, she and her mother had one of those special mother-daughter bonds that sometimes put the keeper in awe.
We all obviously love our sons, the keeper says, but those lucky enough to have had a daughter, recognize there’s a difference.
Thanks for the reminder, Gina.
