Kickass, the doorstop dog, agrees with the keeper that a family gathering at the river on a Sunday as flawless as yesterday may be a high mark of tribal cohesiveness.
With younger members attentive to the keeper’s comfort and appetite as he and Phyllis occupied comfortable chairs, ate Andy and Ari’s delicious quesadillas etc., caught up on the latest family gossip, soaked up the sunshine while watching the bird and human activity along the river and appreciated the fact that a couple of rambunctious dogs and a covey of small kids cavorted in the sand and water until they were obviously unsalvageable as it relates to future human contact.
The standing tribal rule that those who brought ‘em have to take ‘em home is particularly salient after a Sunday at the river.
The keeper and Phyllis took each other home, sans only enough sand to remind them of another great time at the river.
