Kickass, the doorstop dog, will be helping the keeper in his project to reclaim and repurpose all the now useless eclipse viewing glasses for viewing TV during the current political campaign.
Like the warning about eye damage occurring from viewing the eclipse without the special glasses, a similar caution applies to brain damage from watching TV campaign ads without a filter that cuts out virtually all of the light.
As the media repeatedly pointed out, a welding helmet is an appropriate substitute for the eclipse glasses and may even be better in not only cutting out the light but also muffling the sound.
The keeper will be haunting the resale venues for one such helmet and plans to wear it while watching TV between now and Nov. 5.
In the meantime, he asks that you send your eclipse glasses to that political party where you think they are most needed. In the interests of prolonging the togetherness espoused by eclipse watchers the keeper will not be making a specific suggestion but adds that he and Phyllis will continue to watch MSNBC, the keeper while wearing his welding helmet, of course.Â
