Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in asking, what are friends for if not to admire and envy, and such was the case with him and Phyllis in a post dinner conversation with Sandra and Roger about dreams and dreaming in which Roger reported that his dreams provide him with answers to any problems he might have.
Roger, who has famously ridden bicycles around the world and has plans for the moon, said that when he has a problem of any kind as he goes to sleep, his dreaming will provide him with a solution by the time he wakes up in the morning.
That just seems incredible to the keeper who experiences something of a reverse dream procedure in which he goes to sleep without a problem but wakes up with one as the result of a weird dream in which he is doing something totally stupid.
It occurs to the keeper that next time he has a bedtime problem he might ask Roger to take it on as a dream favor, or for a fee. Knowing Roger as generous to a fault he probably wouldn’t charge all that much.
Such is life at Vista West where the strains of “When I grow too old to dream, your kiss will live in my heart” echo in the hallways.
