Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper and Phyllis in celebrating the 2023 first day of fall by joining others to do some book promo at the Waunakee Library, after which they will cruise the countryside for signs of the season while congratulating each other that they are present for another round of the spectacular annual wind down.
The trees will mark it best, and one of the books the keeper will be hawking in Waunakee is “Treeson: an APOLOGIA to the trees” for the pulpwood that went into making the paper to print his 35 years of newspaper column drivel.
Some of the trees on this day will be blushing red, perhaps in embarrassment, and others will be yellow maybe with their own apology.
With his writers ego flying high, the keeper adds deep appreciation to his “Apologia,” and thanks the trees for allowing him and Phyllis to be with them for yet another first day of fall.
