Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in celebrating yet one more All-Star game day by remembering the one 70 years ago in Cincinnati when he and a friend, both just back from Korea, became impromptu members of an RKO Movie News crew with pre-game Crosley Field privileges where Satchel Paige signed the keeper’s game program twice because a press photographer shouted, “One more, Satch!”
Amazingly, the keeper stumbled across a video of that “Satch” action some years ago when he Googled “1953 Major League All-Star Game.”
The video is still available and the keeper will likely Google it several times today, remembering “Satch,” and some of the rest of them, like Ted Williams, also recently back from Korea who was in the stands that day with a beautiful woman and who asked the keeper if the RKO News lens case he was carrying was a mortar?
It cannot be!
But it is!
“One more, Satch!”
