Kickass, the doorstop dog, noting that there are a number of ways to become a father, points out that heroics are not usually involved.
The heroics come later in keeping wayward offspring well fed, secure, clothed and out of trouble with the law.
During the time the keeper was involved in the active “heroics” of fathering four sons and a daughter, a long-haired hippy mindset prevailed and the questioning of a parent’s intelligence by offspring had reached a new low, or would that be “high.”
In any case, fathers throughout the country thought about putting their hairy, rebellious hippy sons out for adoption, and locking their mini-skirted daughters in the basement.
Frankly, it was not a fun time to be a father.
But most of the fathers survived on into grandchildren and even great grandchildren and they wallow in the wonder of that today.
Happy Fathers’ Day, and get a haircut!
