Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that the keeper received a rare treat for his new hearing aids when Phyllis opened the balcony door and instead of the usual chorus of sparrow chirping there was a birdsong that at first seemed too beautiful to be true. It was sung by a very small brownish bird that the keeper only glimpsed before it flew off with an apparent mate that appeared from overhead.
So the morning singer was gone before it could be identified, but rather than regret that circumstance, the keeper remembers and appreciates the sound of the little singer’s delightful morning greeting, and also the fact that Phyllis opened the door so he happened to hear it.
Some days just get off to a great start!
