Kickass, the doorstop dog, with a keener sense of smell than the keeper, agrees that there are sensory shocks to be had now in traveling across the glory of spring in Wisconsin. All can be sweetness and beauty when all of a sudden the environment is taken over by the stench of animal waste obviously being spread across the greening landscape.  On a recent trip to central Wisconsin, there were frequent occasions of this offensive odoriferous experience, which moved the keeper to help Phyllis tolerate it by explaining that the stink signified that they were passing through Republican territory and bull and cow crap are natural elements of the territory.

Phyllis nodded and held her nose until the air cleared up somewhere near Marshfield where a lot of doctors reside.
