Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in observing that some very basic things don’t change all that much, for example clan gatherings in cave-like settings to chew the meat off the bone of an animal, consume plant products, drink various concoctions, tenderly tend the little ones and exchange communications about what is going on in each other’s lives.
So it was in the shop/garage at Beau and Becky’s in Mazo Saturday when weather dictated a shelter for the clan as it gathered around Mike’s bottomless soup kettle and the keeper’s cooked ham, Linda’s salad and Kim’s special bread and the list goes on and on.
There was a dog there–Boo, visiting with her keeper Sarah who is planning a move to check out California.
All in all it was a remarkable event with the keeper and Phyllis commanding a couple of the more comfortable shop chairs.
It was also remarkable in that it was the kind of thing that obviously happened to the clan’s caveman predecessors thousands of years ago with only insignificant differences: back then there was no plastic tableware and people ate with their hands. Actually, there was some of that going on in Beau’s garage Sunday so maybe nothing really changes.
It was a great day!
