Kickass, the doorstop dog, cheered the keeper and Phyllis on as they used the flawless sunny Saturday to soak up some spring and some youth in the vicinity of the UW.
A walk out onto picnic point made the points that leashed dogs think the day is all about them, people of all colors and shapes walk together, ducks are paired off and a raft of coot out on the bay awaits further flight instructions.
On the edge of the cattails a young woman sloshes through the algae-covered water searching for frog eggs to take back to her lab, and the sounds of cheering spectators rides the wind from over by the sprawling athletic fields.
From one end of Langdon street to the other it is a mass of teeming people of all ages, but mostly young, vibrant specimens of joyous “beginnings,” and it astounds the keeper that he was once a part of that scene.
There is no point in counting the years.
Go with the flow, the glorious flow of life on a magnificent day.
If the wait for Babcock ice-cream is excessive, find another outlet and pretend you are sophomores.
That worked for the keeper and Phyllis.
