Kickass, the doorstop dog, marvels at the keeper’s good fortune in having grandchildren like Jessy who wisely and kindly anticipate his “equipment” needs and provide him with the means to do whatever activity is important in his life at the time.
So, Jessy came bearing a gorgeous Afghan that she had crocheted along with a beautiful blossoming hyacinth and a jar of home-made jam, and in so doing she had thoughtfully covered most of the keeper’s current activity bases–relaxing in a recliner, staring at pretty things and eating.
The keeper will share the jam and the hyacinth with Phyllis, but he will be like a “dog in a manger (recliner)” with the Afghan.
