Kickass, the doorstop dog, tries to stay out of the way as the keeper and Phyllis–well, mostly Phyllis, do the final adjusting necessary to get their book “Treeson” into the hands of clamoring readers–at least the keeper claims that there is clamoring. What he hears may be friends shouting at each other about the ugly turn the weather is about to make. In that regard, the keeper and Phyllis will be invoking Wisconsin’s most popular pastime of staying inside and looking out the window. A planned trip to spend Christmas with some of Phyllis’s family in central Wisconsin has been put off and will be rescheduled for next June.
In the meantime, Phyllis’s fruit cake continues on its rum binge and the keeper can hardly wait to join in.
