Kickass, the doorstop dog, joined the keeper in pretty much staying out of the way as Phyllis went into her annual fruit cake making mode, combining a most interesting collection of colorful elements and beginning the procedure that concludes with long-term soaking in a tasty alcoholic beverage, something the keeper identifies with.
Being Canadian born, Phyllis grew up where fruit cake is a prestigious part of personal and national celebrations, and she brings her mother’s dedication to the art of making them.
It is the keeper’s mission to restore traditional respect to the fruit cake in the US, and to arrange things so he is the primary consumer of the delicious fruit cake that Phyllis now has aging in booze in the fridge.
