Kickass and the Great Filter

Kickass, the doorstop dog, is at a loss to help the keeper deal with the “Great Filter” theory which has it that the reason we have not detected intelligent life on other planets is that civilizations out there in space evolve to get so smart that they destroy themselves, which seems to be where the Earth is headed.

In his perverted quest to find a meaningful advantage to being older than sedimentary rock, the keeper may have at last found one: by the time the “Great Filter” theory kicks in for Earth, his little pile of cells will likely be recycled into a rodent or maybe a crow and he won’t fret over tomorrow.

The keeper will be talking it over with Phyllis, who always has a creative take on things. She may see the Great Filter theory as nothing more than an interesting way to brew coffee.
