Kickass and Eye Treatment

Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that the keeper’s treatment at the VA’s eye clinic includes a series of shots–at anywhere from six to ten week intervals, to ward off the effects of macular degeneration.  While the procedure sounds intimidating, it is, in fact, not that bad–a brief poke and several hours of irritation; and then an unfailing memory jog  of Mom who passed along a host of vision-problem genes.

The shot procedure is not that uncommon, as the keeper frequently discovers when he seeks sympathy from someone only to find that they too are on undergoing eye-shot treatment.

The VA does an incredible job of monitoring and maintaining the keeper’s aging “vehicle,” comparable perhaps to keeping a Model A Ford on the road, out of the fast lane but still chugging along.

In a recent meeting, VA Dr. Emelia Ruiz shot some cortisone into the keeper’s right shoulder so he can now comb his hair, which Phyllis appreciates.
