Kickass, the doorstop dog, sympathizes with the keeper in grappling with the spate of new space information detailing the “light year” size of things, and unfailingly labeled as “beyond comprehension.”

Well, yeah, the keeper accepts that he does not comprehend how the big bang is still banging away—really far away, and that he is nothing more than a little jumble of dust in the grand scheme of things.

But he needs something easier to relate to, particularly on this Sunday morning when the believers are gathering to shore up their spiritual space standing.

So the keeper will henceforth think of himself as a flea on a dog that is endlessly chasing a tennis ball.  He is calling it the “Fetch,” faith, and welcomes others to join him.

The Fetch faith not only explains the bumpy ride of life but also addresses the possibility of being scratched off at any second.  It also offers the intriguing opportunity for “Fetch” adherents, to speculate on just what dog they are attached to: The keeper, of course, needs to look no farther than Kickass.  He is not sure if Phyllis will be joining him as a “Fetch” flea, as busy as she has been creating yet another batch of delicious soup, but the invitation is out there.
