Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports a pause in the mountain-glacier chase of the Keeper and Phyllis to visit Phyllis’s friend Sheila and her husband Patrick, and brother Albert, who is in Calgary for a wedding. That Canadian-born Phyllis has friends and family here is not surprising of course, nor was it surprising for one of those friends to ask the Keeper how people like Ted Cruz and Ron Johnson can get elected to US public office.
The Keeper’s response was to change the subject to Calgary’s famous rodeo and wonder how he, the Keeper, might stick around and compete, perhaps in bronc riding, given the number of times his boyhood pony threw him off.
The Keeper and Phyllis are ready to wrap up their foray into the magnificent workings of nature, and head for home, even though nothing in the machinations of mountains and glaciers offers any explanation for the likes of Cruz and Johnson.
There is of course, the Canadian coin called the “ looney” and there-in may be the answer. It is all about money!
