Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in cheering on Ava the beagle who is obviously not content to accept her traditional dog identity, and is making a bold move to pattern dog-walking more as it might be designed by cats.
Following a temporary mobility issue, Ava, in charge of Phyllis’s son Todd’s home in Marshfield, arranged to be carried on her dog-walk in the backpack of Alexis, Todd’s fire-fighter daughter.
The take-away, of course, is that adhering to old ways may not always be the best; and if you are an old dog like Ava you might want to consider the independent thinking of cats and exchange the discomfort of a dog-walk leash for a luxurious ride in a backpack.
The keeper—as an old dog, is struggling to apply the Ava approach to his own life, but so far has only been able to out-wait Phyllis in getting up out of the recliner and dishing up the evening desert.
It’s a start, but it is a long way from being toted around by an attractive young female fire-fighter.
