Kickass, the doorstop dog, endorses the keeper’s comment that the outstanding feature at the river-side clan gathering, hosted Saturday by Ohm and Andy, was Sunny’s baby bump which has taken on the proportions of the giant pumpkin. Everyone had a comment, and little girls came to gently poke at their hiding future cousin, and to giggle up at Sunny.
Sunny faces this most momentous of human accomplishments with casual impatience and good humor; causing the keeper to think that if it were him with this little human waiting in his belly to emerge through a bodily orifice, he could not handle it, nor could any of the big, brave males, in the clan or anywhere on the planet. If birthing were a male function, it would simply be proclaimed by the ego-centric males as an excessively painful intrusion in their lives, and deemed illegal, thus ending the human species before it started.
The eagerness of Sunny and Kyle in adding a new member to the clan, rightfully ignores the global absurdities, and proclaims: “Here’s one more to assemble with us at the river to enjoy each other’s company on a warm, spring Saturday.”
