Kickass, the doorstop dog, will join the keeper today in assisting Phyllis as she turns Apt 523 into an art gallery to display some of the outstanding examples of her photo-art for fellow Vista West residents.
It promises to be a gala event, and the keeper is wondering if he might best contribute by posing as “The Thinker”—sitting in a chair, sparsely clad with his chin in his hand and pretending to have deep thoughts.
He will run that by Phyllis, of course, and it is entirely possible that she may ask him to wait in a closet until the show is over.
Caitlin, the Vista West activities director, will be offering wine and snacks, so maybe the keeper could help with that.
Living with an artist has its challenges, and one of them is finding just where you fit into an artist’s dedicated life in a manner that does not interfere with the art.
Even if you are not a Vista West resident, you might put on a mask, and stop at Phyllis’s show. Kickass will be just outside the door, and the keeper will be—he isn’t sure just yet.
