Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in reporting on the recent unbelievable DNR Board meeting at which Walker appointees, one of whom—Wausau tooth-jerker Fred Prehn, refuses to step down from his expired term, voted in favor of continuing to allow the poisoning of surface water as dictated by the chemical industry and its unconscionable supporters.
Never mind the many community leaders who pleaded with the board for protection from the cancer-causing agricultural poisons that never break down and that are supported by the ‘’Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce” among other narcissistic groups. One such plea was made by the tearful leader of a rural township who reported having cancer and being terrified at the continuing exposure of her area to the incredibly toxic ag chemicals now in wide use.
The DNR Board ignored two and one-half years of scientific research by DNR professionals to set water quality standards, in favor of “a guy” that Prehn said he talked to, as it voted 3-3 to continue poisoning state residents.
The keeper, with a long history of reporting on Wisconsin’s laudable conservation record, flails for some means of helping the DNR Board reclaim decency. He, and his ilk find themselves somewhere between the Vietnam priest who sought attention to an issue by burning himself to death, and the cancer-fighting woman who shed tears as Prehn and the Walker-appointed narcissists ignored her and the rest of the state citizenry.
There are elements of the Repub’s gerrymandered minority-representative Wisconsin government that are increasingly hard to take. For now, the keeper and his crowd can only apparently squeal like threatend pigs.
