Kickass, the doorstop dog, notes the keeper’s observation of the changing impact of cultural fixtures as they relate to age, such as “TGIF” now being something quite different than it once was for the keeper’s crowd of vintage has-beens.
Once the keeper and his ilk joined the rest of the world in celebrating TGIF as the end of the work week and an upcoming weekend of fun; now, not so much, as their “independent-living” lives don’t change all that much from one day of the week to the next.
But there is cultural residue, and in a desire to retain some relevancy, the keeper is suggesting a few new interpretations of TGIF, hoping they are more meaningful to his crowd of vintage has-beens:
TGIF “Thermostat Going (up), I’m Freezing!”
TGIF “There’s (left-over) Grub In Fridge.”
TGIF “There Goes (another) Ice Fall!”
TGIF “Thank god, It (was only a) Fart.”
That is probably enough for now as the keeper looks forward to yet another enjoyable weekend with Phyllis: TGIF–“Together Getting Intimate Frequently.”
