Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that the keeper, never noted for restraint, has gone completely overboard in celebrating a tech advance that he can not only understand but operate without asking for Phyllis’s help: It is a trash can that has a motion-sensor lid that opens with the wave the of a hand and then automatically closes several seconds later.
While others of his ilk may spend their weekend in front of the TV set, the keeper will be standing next to the kitchen trash container, waving his hand, and watching the lid open and close. He would ask Phyllis if he can help her throw anything away except that she is already far ahead of him in that regard, having demonstrated that visiting St. Viney’s does not have to be a one-way mission.
The keeper has not been this excited since mastering the one-cup coffee-maker; and he is not put off by the obvious image of an old man finding happiness in the tech world next to a trash receptacle.
