Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper and Phyllis in noting the reappearance of the “Wear a mask” signs; and in their lamenting that the new masking is due to the daily Covid19 death toll climbing to 350, mostly among the unvaccinated, which makes the deaths almost totally avoidable.
In the grand scheme of dying, the current Covid average ranks as 7th, far behind heart disease at 2,000 daily deaths and cancer at 1,600, both of which currently bear on the lives of the keeper and Phyllis. As they contend with these noncontagious killer diseases, they do not need another contagious one coming at them due to the ignorance and recalcitrance of others.
So, we are all going to die, the keeper notes, some of us due to our own stupidity, but if it is due to someone else’s stupidity, that is quite another thing, and we will be highly pissed!
