Kickass, the doorstop dog, assists the keeper in establishing a commission to investigate the seasonal insurrection of the spring of 2021, when the human species continued its destructive ways as the rest of the natural world went on about the business of propagation and existence with a glorious display of blossoms, exuberance and innocence.

Befouling the planet with poisonous herbicides, burning toxic-producing fuel, spreading lawn and farm chemicals to transform fresh blue lake water into pea-soup, killing off pollinators to enhance corporate profits, the narcissistic humans flaunted their arrogance and ignorance by acting as if they were above the natural scene instead of being an undeniable part of it.

That the cellular structures that have given rise to human brains are any more important than the ones comprising this spring’s robin eggs or hatch of Mayflies is the ultimate absurdity.

A recent windshield tour of the countryside by the keeper and his son Mike provided ample opportunity to conclude that an investigative commission is sorely needed: all is well and wonderful across the landscape, except for what humans are doing: They need to be held accountable!
